"Oh, it is wonderful to know that our Heavenly Father loves us—even with all our flaws! His love is such that even should we give up on ourselves, He never will. We see ourselves in terms of yesterday and today. Our Heavenly Father sees us in terms of forever. Although we might settle for less, Heavenly Father won’t, for He sees us as the glorious beings we are capable of becoming."

The truth about being pregnant
Being pregnant is probably the least enjoyable event a woman gets to experience. Here are my reasons why:
1. FAT. FAT. FAT. I'm not one of those obnoxiously cute pregnant women who only gain weight in their belly. No, my butt, thighs, love handles, arms, and face are all fat, fat, fat.
2. Back pain. Begins about 5-6 months and continues to labor. If you're really lucky, you get back labor (which an epidural doesn't help with) and you get to deal with it all through labor.
3. As my friend JR said, "you get stitches on your who-ha and you'll poop." Fortunately with the C-Section neither of these happened, but I'm not looking forward to it this time around.
4. Boobs. For 20+ years they served one purpose: decoration. You could even spruce them up with fancy bras from Victoria's Secret. (Victoria's Secret doesn't make maternity bras).
When your milk does come in, the first thing you get is a yellow puss-like substance oozing from them (gross) and then your milk comes in. When my milk came in with Ally, it was like someone had inserted cantaloupes in my shirt. And painful. Not to mention the fact that anytime you roll over or even hear a baby cry, suddenly you have milked yourself, as if life isn't embarrassing enough.
5. Nursing. When/how/where is this appropriate? Liberal moms will say "Anytime, anywhere." Well, my mom taught me to hide certain parts of my body at all costs and now suddenly it's ok to whip out a boob out in public. Even in my own home, I go hide in my bedroom when it's time to nurse.
I would make apologies for the graphic nature of the blog, but it's the truth. I'm wondering if we made the right decision to have another. I'm also wishing I could fast-forward about 12 months and all this would be over.
Things no one told me:
1. Rough up your nipples before nursing. Supposedly it helps with the pain of nursing (and yes it's painful and involves skill...who knew? And why didn't anyone tell me before hand?)
2. You may not love your baby right away. Well, you'll love your baby, but you may not fall in love with your baby right away.
Any other truths you wished you knew before having babies? Or am I just crazy?

Hydration Station

Ally has been throwing up for 3 days now. Sunday was the worst. We went through 3 comforters and probably 7 different blankets. Poor thing couldn't even keep ice chips down.
Monday was better, but she was still throwing up. And then she was up until 3:30 in the morning crying. Today she only threw up once, but we decided to take her into the doctor's anyway and they decided to hook her up to an IV. Oh Joy. So Mom gets to hold Ally down while she's getting poked and prodded and swabbed and what not. I know I'm not the only one to ever go through this, but it still sucks.
Matt did make it back from class in time to rescue Ally from the wicked mother and nurses with needles and she managed to relax a bit and watch the movie they put on for her (although she was seriously miffed that the didn't have her "In-sore" movie (Dinosaur to the lay-man).
And now she is all fluid-ed up and home and resting on the couch. Bloodwork and throat swab came back normal, so hopefully it's just a viral bug and we can look forward to a little diarrhea in our near future.

Focus
This weekend I am focusing on what I did accomplish rather than what I didn't. Never mind the dishes in the sink, here's what I did:
1. I jogged/walked in a 2 mile race

2. I went in to work on Saturday
3. I washed probably 10 different blankets
4. I cleaned up puke off the couch, floor, bed, etc. (Ally has been sick)
5. I turned in my second Independent Study assignment and got a 95%
6. I did 3 loads of laundry and ran the dishwasher twice
7. I had a sleepover with the Young Women and watched Twilight...so maybe that's not a feat, but it was fun

What is going on here?
After renewing our McAfee subscription, now all of a sudden I can't seem to right click and save pictures. This is a problem!
Mostly, I just wanted to post about my awesome brother-in-law. I have several, actually, but one of them looks a lot like Andy Serkis (Capricorn) in the movie Inkheart, so I was going to post a picture. I guess you'll just have to google Andy Serkis Inkheart if you really want to see and I'll just have to stop being lazy and use my own pictures.

Just kidding. Figured out a way around it. Anyway, seeing Jeff on the big-screen was the best part of the movie. Otherwise I thought it blew. I don't know if it's because I liked the book so much or if it was just because it was poorly put together or because Brenden Frasier still isn't my favorite actor, but it wasn't very good. Poor Helen Mirren. She had the best character from the film, but still couldn't save that movie.
