Lock the Bathroom Door!

At work, there is one bathroom closer to my office than the main bathroom. It's off to the side and a "one-er." I prefer to use this one, mainly just because it's closer so I always walk by it. If it's locked I just make the loop to the main bathroom. Today I walked by it, pulled on the handle, slowly began to open the door, and I hear, "Oh, I'm sorry.." I quickly shut it and kept walking to avoid any unnessary eye contact with the person I nearly walked in on. Luckily, she was already at the sink. Given the orientation of the bathroom, had she been using the restroom, I would have seen the whole show. Now here's my question: Who doesn't lock the door behind them when using the bathroom at work? How can you just forget that one essential component? And like I said, it's a "one-er" so any sex can use it. What if I had been a man walking in on a woman. How awkward.

Finding the Poo

For some reason, last night our downstairs smelled like poo. Between Ally's diaper and Betty's accidents and the two cats who sometimes poop on the floor near their litter box when it's full, we weren't sure where to begin looking. I had just cleaned out the litter box the night before, so I don't think it was the cats. Ally's diaper was clean. Betty had just gone in the garage. Matt and I walked around sniffing, but never did find anything. This morning the smell has dissipated. Maybe somebody just had gas.
Our Arizona dog, Maximus, had horrendous gas. We would occasionally try to bring him inside, but his gas was so bad I couldn't stand to have him in the same room for longer than 15 minutes. Poor guy. And since he was 99% an outside dog, we left him in Arizona because it was way to cold when we got here to have him outside. I hope his new owners are nice to him.

Maximus:

Betty, on the other hand, is driving me crazy. When we first got her, she was so starved that I guess she had no energy. She was calm and dainty. Now that she's feeling better, she is, well, I guess, a dog. She jumps on you, wants to play all the time, harrasses the cats to no end. I don't really mind her, but it is annoying when I'm trying to roll around with Ally and Betty jumps into it and starts licking my face. And I swear she's going to give Manny a heart attack the way she pounces on him. But aside from a few initial accidents, she's a good dog. Just don't tell Matt I said that.
This is Betty and Manny (when Betty was calm).

Snuggle Time

Today is a good day. As I was brushing my teeth this morning, I heard Ally cry. She usually sleeps later than when I have to leave, so I don't get to see her. Occasionally she will wake up, but she then goes back to sleep with a bottle. So I prepared a bottle for her and went in to give it to her. Instead of laying back down, however, she held out her arms and wanted me to hold her. Since I had no definitive scheduling restrictions at work, I took advantage of the opportunity to just snuggle for a bit this morning. Happiness.

(So I'm not exactly Sleeping Beauty..deal with it!)

Active Ally

So, I know that most people (including myself) are more interested in pictures than lots of words, so here are a few of my Ally. She fell asleep in her high chair one night, which she had never done before. It was so funny watching her doze off. The video is something I've been trying to capture for quite some time now. Ally will spin in a circle and say "Whoa whoa whoa." I've been trying to get it on video and, of course, as soon as you turn on the camera, she refuses to cooperate. Anyway, here it is finally. Whoa!

Sushi!

Look at the Sushi I made last night!

I went to a class offered by a lady at church. It was super easy, but of course she did all the prep work, all I did was roll it up. I imagine if I had to make the rice and cut everything up myself it might take a while. In any case, we were all really impressed with ourselves when we were finished. I ate the rest of mine for breakfast this morning. Matt refused to try any, saying they "smelled funny." But our sushi didn't even have any raw fish. Sushi, I discovered, is the vinegared rice, not the fish. Raw fish by itself is sashimi.

Undressing herself

Yesterday was a glorious day when my daughter figured out she could take off her own pants. I went in to get her from her nap and she was sitting naked from the waist down in her crib, pants thrown out onto the floor diaper sitting next to her in the crib. Needless to say there was a little puddle in the crib as well, but I am just ever so grateful that only #1 was involved. I have heard many a horror story from friends where their children paint the walls with poo when they figure out they can take off their own diaper. We will be a little more cautious with what she wears to bed from now on, though.
